Founder's Message

California Strong Athletics didn't start because I wanted to open a gymnastics gym. It started because I saw a gap.

I saw youth sports environments that were either too soft — no structure, no standards — or too intense — ego-driven, pressure-heavy, built around winning instead of development.

I knew there had to be something better.

I've always believed that kids rise to the level of the leadership around them. If leadership is organized, disciplined, and steady — kids grow in confidence. If leadership is chaotic or ego-driven — kids feel it.

When I built Cal Strong here in Concord, I wasn't thinking about expansion or trophies. I was thinking about responsibility. Responsibility to the kids who walk through our doors. Responsibility to the parents who trust us. Responsibility to build something that would last in this community.

Gymnastics is one of the most demanding sports in the world. It exposes fear. It requires courage. It demands discipline. That's exactly why I chose it as the tool. Because if a child can learn to trust themselves upside down, they can learn to trust themselves anywhere.

But the most important thing we build here isn't skill. It's relationships.

Relationships between coach and athlete. Between families and leadership. Between kids who grow up together year after year.

I want California Strong Athletics to be a place that families talk about ten years from now and say, "That place helped shape my child."

Not because we chased trophies. But because we showed up consistently. We held standards. We cared deeply. And we built something real.

This isn't about being the biggest gymnastics gym in Concord. It's about being the most trusted.
